Girl Effect

On 20th July 2014 my sister and I were lucky enough to be able to attend an intimate Jessie J concert for Girl Effect.
Before I carry on with the post here is a bit about what Girl Effect is. 'The girl effect is a movement. It's about leveraging the unique potential of adolescent girls to end poverty for themselves, their families, their communities, their countries and the world. It's about making girls visible and changing their social and economic dynamics by providing them with specific, powerful and relevant resources.'
Before this concert I had never heard of Girl Effect before and didn't realise the extent of what was happening to many girls who are living in poverty.
Jessie J, Sasha Keable and George the Poet all performed at the concert in London and they really did put on a show. I've seen Jessie J many times before as my sister is a HUGE fan of hers and we've met her once. Her voice is just phenomenal and every show she puts on is incredible however I have to say the Girl Effect concert was by far the best I've been to!
The concert wasn't the only Girl Effect event going on that day and we took a short walk down to Vibe Bar on Brick Lane to have a little look round the events taking place there. As we had concert tickets we were kindly gifted some Tatty Devine necklaces that had been designed especially for the day and are shown below.
The concert was such an eye opener and really made me appreciate just how lucky I am. For more information about Girl Effect visit http://www.girleffect.org/ and check out this video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1e8xgF0JtVg

Dream Dungarees

Hi everyone!
I must apologise for the lack of posts lately, things have been pretty manic round here so I haven't had a chance to get photos taken but hopefully everything will be back to normal very soon.
Today I was planning to blog about the Girl Effect concert my sister and I went to last week, however I went shopping today and I just had to blog about two items I purchased, so tomorrows post will be about the concert.
On to today's post. For a while now I have been on the hunt for the perfect pair of denim dungarees and I just couldn't find the right pair. Now, I'm not fussy but when I have an idea of what I want in my head I won't get anything unless it's exactly what I'm looking for. I had been looking everywhere and trawling the internet for the perfect set of dungarees. I tried some on in Primark and River Island a while ago but the legs were a skinny fit and I wanted some that were baggy so I could turn them up.
THEN today when I walked into Primark and went to the denim section I saw the PERFECT dungarees AND they were only £7!!!!! BARGAIN!!
Another of today's purchases were my Nike Roshe Runs. Again for a while now I've been after a pair of trainers and after looking at all the different styles I decided I wanted some roshe runs so today I popped into JD and picked up this hot pink pair from the junior section. They're so light and comfy and I love the colour. So now I some good trainers I have no excuse for not going out for runs and getting fit!
What are your views on dungarees?
Until next time

Shorts/Top - New Look
Shoes - Primark

Hello everyone! I'm homeeeee!
It's been a while since my last post so this feels like I'm starting my blog all over again! It feels good to be home, 2 weeks away from the family felt more like 2 months, however I did have a really lovely holiday and the weather was just perfect for me! I've definitely got to go abroad again as I'm a bit in love with my tan at the moment (I'm more tanned in real life than the pictures make me look!) and I LOVED flying, I actually found it surprisingly relaxing.
Anyway onto the outfit. This little Co-Ord arrived this morning and is from the New Look sale. I saw it when it first came out and loved it but never got round to buying it so when I saw it in the sale for £15 for the set I couldn't resist. It's so comfy and summery and can be dressed up or down, also its made from a really light fabric so is perfect in this hot weather.
Until next time

P.S. Here are a few holiday snaps!

Classic

Coat - H&M
Dress/Heels - New Look
Sunglasses - Primark

For ages I've been after a trench coat, however I wanted one that was a bit different, so when I saw this beauty in H&M it was love at first try! I've paired it with one of my holiday dresses from New Look and a classic pair of nude shoes to keep the outfit quite simple. I would love to be able to wear outfits like this everyday but obviously it wouldn't be very practical to go to work at a kids club in heels and a cream jacket, so I'll just have to save this kind of outfit for appropriate occasions.
I hope you're all well, this is my last scheduled post as I'm back on Thursday! BOOOOO!
Until next time

Simple Brights

Dress - Topshop
Sunglasses - Primark

Flossy's - Office

Another scheduled post for you all today. I hope you're all well and the weather is good for everyone at home!
Today's post is actually the outfit I travelled to Spain in. I chose to travel in this as it's bright, summery and comfortable! The dress was a recent sale find in Topshop which cost £15 and it's made from a really good quality material. I paired it with my amazing Flossy's, which I have to say are one of the comfiest pairs of shoes I own! Wearing them is like wearing a pair of slippers so they were perfect for travelling in.
Until next time

The Album Edit

I love music and lately I've been getting quite a few new albums so I thought that for today's scheduled post I would share them with you....

The first one is Ghost Stories by Coldplay. I'll be honest at first I wasn't keen on this album as I thought it was a bit boring, however it is a grower and now I love it.
Favourite songs - Ink and Another's Arms

The second album is In The Lonely Hour by the incredible Sam Smith. I am desperate to see this man perform live after watching his set at Glastonbury. I instantly loved this album, but that's probably because I just love his voice!
Favourite songs (Hard to choose as they are all good!) - Like I Can and Make It To Me

Next up is Whispers by Passenger, another album that I highly recommend! I love listening to songs that tell stories and this album is perfect for this. Fore example the song Riding To New York is based on a true story, which makes you listen to and take in the words more than you normally might do.
Favourite songs - 27 and Bullets

This is the most recent album I've purchased and is currently the album that is playing on repeat in my car. If you thought Ed Sheeran's last album was good then you must must must buy this one, and I'd recommend getting the Deluxe Edition as the extra songs are sooo good!
Favourite songs ( again picking just 2 is hard!) - Take It Back and Thinking Out Loud

I hope you're all well and enjoyed this slightly different post. What do you think of these albums, and are there any others you would recommend?
Until next time

Paperchase

Hello everyone! Now as you're reading this I will be in sunny Spain, hopefully catching a good tan!
Today's post is about a couple of bits I picked up in the Paperchase sale. I LOVE Paperchase! They just sell the most beautiful stationary, and I love stationary. Pretty notepads, pens, pencils, everything!
The first thing I found was a gorgeous, bright document wallet, however I've decided I'm going to use it as a clutch bag as it's just such a good quality and I personally think it will look so good with a plain outfit. I just love the fun, colourful parrot print and I think it's too good to keep hidden away! Also at £5.60 I just couldn't leave it!
The second thing I picked up was a little Style and Fashion journal, which I think is going to be really useful. It includes lots of tips for being a smart shopper and has a shopping record where you can keep track of what you have brought and how much you've spent (scary I know!) Also there is an outfit record where you can keep track of what you've worn which will be useful for blogging. I think I will get a lot of use out of this little book and again it was a bargain at only £2.40.
Have you found any good bargains lately?
Until next time

Hand Luggage

Hello everyone! I hope you're all well and are having a good week!
Today I've been doing my last little bit of packing for my holiday tomorrow! I'm going to Spain for two weeks with three close friends and it's fair to say we are all extremely excited! It will be my first 'hot holiday' and the first time I've flown, which I'm a little bit nervous about.
I've also been busy today getting some scheduled blog posts ready for when I'm away as two weeks with no posts is quite a long time, so keep checking for some new posts.
Now on to today's post. These are a few of the essential things that will be in my hand luggage. I've actually surprised myself with the amount I'm taking away with me as there's a lot less than I was expecting. I suppose that's a good thing though as it means I can do some shopping there. In my hand luggage I've got a book, which I have just stared and already I don't want to put it down, so I would really recommend it if you're in to reading. Also I've got the basic handbag items, phone, purse, headphones, sunglasses, a scrunchie and a hairbrush. Along with my passport, travel documents and boiled sweets for the plane.
If anyone has any advice or tips for first time flyers please let me know!
Adios
Gemma
